SEO Tips for Blog Posts That Actually Rank
If you are putting effort into blogging but not seeing results, you are not alone. Many business owners post regularly and still do not see any traffic or leads from their content.
That is because blogging for SEO is not about volume or perfect writing. It is about strategy.
At Luneer Mgmt, we help service providers and small business owners use blogging as a long-term traffic tool. Whether you want to write your own posts or outsource it completely, here is what actually matters if you want your content to rank.
1. Start with a Keyword That Matches Search Intent
Before you write anything, make sure you know what your ideal client might be searching for.
For example:
Instead of “My Journey Into Business,” try “How to Choose a Brand Photographer”
Instead of “Client Spotlight: Birth Story,” try “What to Expect from a Birth Photographer”
These types of titles match real questions and keywords. That makes your post more likely to show up when someone Googles a related topic.
Not sure how to pick the right keywords? This guide to choosing the right keywords walks you through it.
2. Use One Main Keyword Per Blog Post
Every blog post should focus on one specific keyword or phrase. Use it in your:
Blog title
URL
First 100 words
At least one heading
A few times in the body
Meta description
Image file name and alt text
Avoid using the same keyword on multiple posts. That can cause confusion for search engines and prevent either post from ranking well.
3. Answer the Question Clearly and Use Headings
Google wants to send users to pages that answer their question quickly and clearly.
Use H2 or H3 headings to break up your content. Headings help both readers and search engines understand the structure of your post. You do not need to write long, formal paragraphs. Clear and helpful is always better than clever and vague.
Example:
If your post is about “What to Wear for a Branding Photoshoot,” break it into sections like:
H1: What to Wear for a Branding Photoshoot
H2: Choosing Colors That Match Your Brand
H2: Outfits That Work Well on Camera
H3: What to Avoid Wearing
This format signals to Google (and your reader) that the content is organized, easy to scan, and directly answers the question they searched for.
4. Include Internal Links to Other Pages on Your Site
Blog posts are a great place to link to your services, contact page, or other helpful content.
For example:
“Learn more about our SEO services for service providers”
“Check if your website is SEO-ready with this checklist”
“Find out how long SEO takes to start working”
These internal links help guide your reader and also help Google crawl and understand your site better.
5. Do Not Forget the Meta Description
Even though meta descriptions do not directly affect rankings, they can impact whether someone clicks on your post.
Write a short sentence that summarizes the post and includes the main keyword. Keep it under 160 characters.
Example:
Learn how to write blog posts that rank on Google and bring in ideal clients, even if you are not a professional writer.
6. Keep It Evergreen
Write posts that will still be useful six months or a year from now. This is called evergreen content, and it gives you the biggest return on your time and energy.
Good evergreen blog ideas include:
“What to Expect When Working with a [Your Role]”
“How to Prepare for Your [Service] Session”
“Top Mistakes to Avoid When Hiring a [Service Provider]”
“How to Know You Are Ready to [Hire/Book/Invest]”
If your blog posts are only announcements or news updates, they will not help you long term.
7. Consistency Matters Less Than Strategy
You do not need to post weekly for SEO to work. You do need to publish strategic content that is optimized correctly and connected to your services.
One high-quality blog per month can do more than four generic ones that are not optimized.
And if you do not want to write them yourself, we can help.
